Cattle
Dairy & the backbone of your ranch
Cattle are the dependable heart of a ranch in The Ranchers — a steady source of milk that feeds into cheese, butter and other valuable goods.
Cattle are the classic backbone of any ranch, and in The Ranchers they’re your route to reliable dairy income. Housed in a barn, a well-fed cow produces milk that you can sell as-is or — far more profitably — process into cheese, butter and other goods.
Note: the exact animal roster is still being confirmed for Early Access. We mark species as expected until the developers or the live build lock them in, and we’ll update care details and numbers as they’re known.
Why raise cattle?
Cattle make an excellent first big investment once you’ve got early cash flow from crops and poultry. Milk is a renewable, daily-ish resource, and the dairy chain (milk → cheese/butter) is one of the steadier money-makers in the genre. They ask for more space and care than poultry, but they reward a player who likes a dependable routine.
Care basics
Keep your cattle fed and watered every day to maintain productivity. As your ranch grows, expect to unlock auto-feeders and water systems that take the daily chore out of it. Healthy, well-cared-for animals produce more and better goods, so don’t let feed run dry.
Tips
- Build and upgrade your barn before over-stocking.
- Process milk into cheese and butter for far more profit than selling raw.
- Breed your own next generation rather than buying every new cow.
